My Week in Pictures

Flowers in the window outside The Cow on Westbourne Park Road

Flowers in the window outside The Cow on Westbourne Park Road

This week has been so busy, I feel as though my feet haven’t touched the ground. I know they have though, otherwise I’d have been flying and I know THAT can’t be true, because if I could have one super power it would be invisibility. NOT flying.

As always, I’ve been busy capturing my week on Instagram and here are some of my favourites for you to peruse with a cup of tea, hot chocolate, or a Dark and Stormy. (I have discovered that I really (really) like rum.)

Animals in the Wall - Poppy Loves

If you haven’t heard of William S Burroughs, allow me to introduce you. A true visionary of the 20th Century, he is recognised as one of the most culturally influential writers and a progenitor of the Beat Generation (which questioned politics, explored religion, developed styles & creative methods, and wrote about the human condition) – his writing and ideas changed literature forever.

Bowling at Queens Ice and Bowl

Queens Ice and Bowling Poppy Loves 1

A few days ago I spent the day with my brother and dad, who was back in the country for a few weeks. (He’s doing amazingly important work with his charity over in Uganda and we’re both immensely proud of him.)

Our day began with brekky at The Wolseley, then a free concert at St Martin in The Fields, followed by the BP Awards at the National Portrait Gallery (also free), lunch at Patty & Bun (uh huh) and then we dragged our weary feet and very full tummies over to Queensway for a couple of games of bowling at Queens Ice and Bowl. Hilarious.

Theatre: Dessa Rose
Trafalgar Studios, London

Dessa Rose at Trafalgar Studios

Last night I trundled down to Charing Cross on the Bakerloo line and got wedged under someone’s armpit. But then someone complimented me on my dress, so I figured that evened everything out.

I was on my way to see the European premiere of Dessa Rose at Trafalgar Studios and I was really, really looking forward to it. It was penned by the same clever souls behind Ragtime – Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty – which I loved and saw at Regents Park Theatre a couple of years ago… so my hopes were high.

Field Candy Box - Poppy Loves
As you know, a couple of weekends ago I was revelling at the Wilderness Festival and having a whale of a time.

I can assure you that my time there would have been much less fun had I been in a rubbish leaky tent, with wobbly pegs and one made of cheapy chops material…

The final days of August…

Wildflower Cafe - My week in pictures

So it seems as though Summer may have packed its bags and is probably sitting in Heathrow departures reading Hello magazine.

I am not in any way despairing – I have loved the warm spell of hazy days but am actually rather enjoying the cooler temperatures at night and of course, the rain.. I’m sitting in Carluccio’s in Islington as I type this and the rain is pouring down outside… like a solid sheet. Soggy people keep stumbling in and shaking their heads like dogs on the beach. I’m feeling dry and smug. It also feels a bit like Christmas but I can’t quite put my finger on why.

Anthropologie Arrives in Richmond

Anthropologie opend in Richmond September 2014

Well this had made me very happy indeed.

Anthropologie is one of my most favourite stores ever in the WORLD. Usually those kinds of sentences aren’t really true and have an element of exaggeration to make a point. But it is true. I love it. I want to live there. And own everything in it. And marry it. And go on romantic holidays to remote Greek islands with it.

Poppy Loves at Wilderness Festival

Poppy Loves at the Wilderness Festival by @Miss_Magpie_Spy

Well hello again,

I am back from the Wilderness Festival and have finally unpacked, done all my laundry, scrubbed myself from top to bottom and am now trying to heave myself through an exploding inbox…

I had the most wonderful and magical time.. and this amazing illustration of me, by the ridiculously talented Miss Magpie Fashion Spy says it all.

There was ice cream (much ice cream) there were many sparkles, thanks to Accessorize celebrating their 30th birthday, (did you SEE THEIR TENT??) and there was sunshine (and rain) and swimming and dancing and fun times and silly times.. a VERY gorgeous Field Candy tent and MUCH AMAZING FOOD and yes, I wore my dungarees too.

I will be posting up all my Wilderness piccies very soon indeed, but in the meantime, this is a big hello and and a hug coming from me and whizzing its way over to you…
